What to Do in the Event of a Pet Emergency

It’s important to be prepared in case of a pet emergency. Here’s what you need to know if your pet has an emergency situation:

After you have notified our team that you and your pet are on the way to our facility, please take a moment (when you are able) to complete our patient admission form.

Once you and your pet arrive, check in at our front desk. Please let our reception team know about your pet’s symptoms so we can determine the urgency of their condition and give you an estimated wait time.

Our veterinary team will evaluate your pet and determine the best treatment plan for their needs. If your pet not a regular patient of our hospital, we will communicate with your primary vet to ensure consistency of care.

Urgent Care vs Emergency Care

Woodland Animal Hospital is equipped to provide urgent care and emergency care for pets. Urgent care differs from emergency care in that it involves treating non-life-threatening conditions. Urgent conditions may require timely treatment to prevent them from getting worse, but they are not as severe or potentially lethal as emergencies can be.

After-Hours Emergency and Referrals

Emergencies can and do happen at any time, day or night. Please call our main number (770) 467-3140 during our regular business hours so we can guide you on immediate care for your pet. Should your pet need urgent or emergent care after our hospital hours, Woodland Animal Hospital is proud to offer after-hours emergency veterinary triage through telehealth services with VetTriage. Their veterinarians will assess your pet’s condition to determine if immediate emergency care is necessary. If an in-person visit isn’t needed, they’ll provide you with detailed home care and monitoring instructions. If urgent care is needed, VetTriage will coordinate your visit with the nearest veterinary emergency hospital.
